We offer both online and in-person classes to learn the craft of Mohair cinch tying. The in-person classes are offered sporadically throughout the year. If you would like to be notified of an upcoming class or when the online class is open, be sure to opt in to our mailing list so you won’t miss the notification.
In-person classes will be posted on our Events Calendar as they are scheduled.
Mohair Cinch Making Fundamentals Online
*Enrollment is currently closed*
In this “work at your own pace” online course, you will be able to learn techniques that are applicable to building single layer straight cinches with hand-woven centers, pony or draft sized cinches, breast collars, and other projects.
In-Person Cinch Classes
We will cover stringing 17 and 19 strand straight cinches, weaving in center D-rings, weaving basic detail work and shapes, calculating 8-ply and detail cord, mapping designs out, and also breast collars and English girths if there is interest. We will also go over cinch-fit on live horses, as well as discussing the pros and cons of different cinch types! Our goal is to equip you with a strong foundational knowledge of cinch construction, so you are comfortable and confident in your ability to build high-quality gear that will last!
Included: a set of our cinch measurement cards, materials for two cinches, tools (yours to keep). You may opt to borrow a frame, bring your own if you already have one, or build your own ahead of time (sources for information on building your own will be provided upon class registration).
If you would like to be notified of an upcoming class, be sure to opt in to our mailing list so you won’t miss the notification. In-person classes will also be posted here as soon as they are scheduled.
